In March 2019, the Cayuga County Democratic Committee announced its endorsement of Gwen Webber-McLeod to challenge Legislator Michael Didio, who is seeking his third term. Gwen has since received endorsements from the Working Families Party, WEPac, and 1199SEIU.
Working Families is a progressive political organization that fights for an economy and democracy that works to make sure every voice matters. The Working Families community includes a growing number of labor, community, environmental, netroots, youth, and faith organizations, and has state chapters in Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC.
WEPac is a political action committee that helps women who support reproductive rights build their financial and volunteer networks and fully understand the process of running for elected office so that they are prepared and supported when they are ready to say ”YES, I am ready to run for office!” Gwen is a graduate of the Women Elect program.
The mission of 1199SEIU is to advocate for quality healthcare and good jobs for all. With more than 400,000 members, it is the nation’s largest and fastest-growing healthcare union serving the rights of workers, quality health care, and numerous other issues of importance to the nursing home, hospital, and home care workers represented by 1199SEIU.
